Miniature bearings with tapered outer ring for shaft sizes from 0.1875" to 0.3125"
See product table below for dimensions and technical drawings
These inch-sized taper O.D. miniature bearings have a slightly tapered outer ring which makes them easier to fit into sheet metal or softer steel such as aluminium. They also have an inner ring that is wider than the outer ring which eliminates the need for spacers or washers as well as a flange on the outer ring. The flange allows the bearing to be more easily located in a housing and can help to prevent axial movement in the event of a thrust load on the bearing. It is easier to maintain the position of a flanged bearing in a thin housing such as sheet metal where an interference fit may be difficult to maintain. The flange also helps to hold the bearing in an aluminium housing which will expand more than the bearing outer ring at higher temperatures.
Taper O.D. bearings are most commonly available in SAE52100 Chrome Steel but some sizes may be available in stainless steel. The chrome steel versions, with a steel retainer and a suitable lubricant, can be used at temperatures of 120°C constant or up to 150°C intermittent. Above these temperatures, the load capacity of chrome steel is reduced. These bearings are not suitable for use in corrosive environments as the steel is not corrosion resistant.

Please note that the maximum loads and speeds are used in theoretical life calculations. It is recommended to use bearings at significantly less than the maximum load and speed ratings to ensure reasonable bearing life.
